The National 4 Applications of Mathematics course comprises of the following mandatory units:
• Numeracy
• Finance & Statistics
• Geometry & Measures
In order meet the requirements of the National 4 Applications of Maths course each pupil must secure a PASS in all three of the mandatory units alongside a final, internally assessed, Added Value Unit exam.
The final internal Added Value exam consists of two papers:
• Paper 1 – Non Calculator (20 minutes)
• Paper 2 – Calculator (40 minutes)
Pupils have one attempt to resit any of the core components of the course should they fail their first attempt.
Progression
Successful completion of the National 4 Applications of Maths course can be followed by the National 5 Applications of Maths course in S5 or S6.
